We will be discussing The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. This classic of 20th century American literature won the National Book Award, Pulitzer Prize for fiction, and the Nobel Prize in Literature. Set in the Great Depression, this novel focuses on a poor family of tenant farmers driven from their Oklahoma home by drought, economic hardship, agricultural industry changes and bank foreclosures forcing tenant farmers out of work. The book explores many themes, including strength in unity, family, love, survival, industrialization and modernization, prejudice, and the human desire for a place to call home
